Questions about Fan/AC and Navigation...

Hi all,

Had couple of questions about my E320:

1) AC/Fan on E320s: How do I turn on the fan and not the AC? You know for when the weather outside is cool enough that you don’t need AC.

I've been reading the manual butcouldn't quite understand how it works:

It reads I have to press the Auto button or go up and down through the 9 settings to get the air flow thingy working but does that use the AC or it's just the air coming from the vents?

Somewhere in there it reads I have to press ACoff, does it mean it will turn the AC off?

2) How do you change the navigation voice volume?

Thanks in advance

1) Push the EC button, that turns the compressor off. Then manually adjust the fan speed and airflow direction to your preference.

2) I have NAV too but have never seen how to adjust the volume. I could be wrong but I don't think it's possible.

You don't mention the model year but if you have an AC off button, press first the auto button and then AC off. Then you have everything working automatically except the AC compressor is switched off (no cooling).

Navigation volume is adjusted during navigation announcements, just use tha volume dial or steering wheel buttons during navigation announcements (you may press the repeat button to make it talk).

Wow, thanks Diesel Benz - I'll try that soon.

Thanks for your relpy. I gave the AC off button a try and it worked.
Thanks a bunch!

About the navigation, I used the volume dial as well as steering wheel right after she announced (turn left or something) but it turned the radio volume up (I had the radio muted). If I understand you correctly, I should turn up the volume exactly during announcements... (but am not sure when she is going to announce it to act fast enough).

You're welcome from here but it looks like Diesel Benz had the correct answer. On my 2001 E320 there is a EC (economy) button that does the trick by turning off the compressor.

Did you say "just after the announcement"? That is too late, it has to be adjusted during the announcement.

It is easier to adjust the volume by pressing the "repeat announcement" button, press the button and immediately after that tune the volume.

Wonderful! Thanks much for your very helpful reply :-) It worked like a charm...I hit the repeat button and immediately tune the volume
