80 300SD enging will not shot off.... help new to site

Hi, To all finaly I got one of this fine cars...
My is 1980 300SD with 84K miles, looks perfect, runs as well.. but the prev owner got it 10yrs ago drove 500 miles after he got it.. and parked in outside with car cover on... Wher we got there to pickup the car.. after jumping from other car.. it started on 2nd try... I love the looks, engine sounds.. etc.

But, now.. pls. help newbeeee with few things... I read most of the posts... but as suggested.. here are few pix what I found. Pls. take a look and let me know

* the brown air line coming from the cabin thru the fire wall is cut....
* than on the left side of the enging, there is electric wire chewed thru...
what is is powering. pls. take alook at the pix.

Hi
I have a same problem with my 300 TD and it could be a couple of things.
1. The systems in that year operate on vacumm, so you might have a leak in one or more lines. 2 There is a fuel cut off valve that might be sticking. 3 You might want to check your vacumm pump. I aqm not sure of what the reading should be but bet guess around 20 to 26 inches. Good luck

Likely a vacuum leak or a faulty shut-off valve.
