window doesn't work

my rear driver side window stopped working. i could here the motor running when i pushed the switch but no up or down. when i opened the doop panel i discovered two cables dangling with spring loaded endings and white broken pieces of plastic that once attached the two ends of the cables. what i would like to know is if i can replace the plastic piece or do i have to purchase the the entire assembly (minus the still working motor). can anyone please provide some input?

Thanks for the response. It's a 1999 E320. Do I need a rivet tool to install it myself and do you have any idea of the cost to have it repaired if I go that route?

yes , there are 5 rivets that hold the regulator to the door. you will need to frist drill out the old ones. the part is approx $140 and if you take it to a dealer expect to pay about $250 to $300 in labor...where are you located??

Order part online (autohausaz dot com) @ $85.00 (for the rear left window regulator, free shipping & free CA tax). take it to a MB mechanic (I took it to an autoglass shop close to my house, charge me $50.00, I am in OC) with rivet machine to hold the window regulator really good. Synchronize the window after installation (the shop do not know how to sync the window). I check the dealer : it's $400.00 then I read the DIY thread (on top of W210 section), save me some $$. PM me if you need any help.

Welcome to BenzWorld. Hope you get this all figured out. You can get a hand riveting tool from sears to redo the rivets. It works really well.

Many thanks. I bought the regulator, used my brothers rivet tool, fixed the window and saved some significant $$

Thanks. Wish I'd seen your post earlier, would've saved evem more $ on the part. But what the hey, I got it from the dealer, removed the rivets and regulator, replaced them and saved apprx $250.00 to $350.00 anyway. Didn't do anything to sync but it's working fine. Thanks again
