I visited the MB Museum in May 2007, and it was very impressive. You take a lift to the top, and the first thing you see is a life size horse and hear 'horsey' noises. A subtle reminder they were around at the start of the horseless carriage.
As you walk down and around the long ramp, there are pictures and text of what was happening in the world at the time these car models were made. A fascinating history lesson. And they do mention the war!
I also visited the Sindelfingen car assembly plant, and in the visitors' area is a display showing the growth of the factory over the years (centuries?), the reduction caused by the Allied bombing campaign, and the post war growth.
And I visited the Unterturkheim engine plant, although I only had time for the German language tour.
