slk pulls to right and left ?

one other question
i have a 2000 slk , 75k miles and for two years it has pulled to the right and the left when driving at slower speeds. one second i let the wheel go and the right the next minute the left it does not happen at high speeds

i have had the car aligned, wheels balanced, tires changed, asked them to look at suspension, shocks, struts, etc... nobody sees a problem but it does happen and i worry it will get worse and something will break at high speeds making me crash into a car on the left or a gurad rail on the right

you guys seem to know more then any of the dealers so i figured i get your input

You have what Daimler calls a R170 roadster. Scroll down from here and you'll see a forum devoted to those in the Roadster sub-section. You'll probably get quicker answers from the actual owners who hang out there. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

You could have a loose joint in your steering rack. When you turn the steering wheel with the car off, is there a lot of play in it?

is there a lot of play at steering wheel center?
are you able to wiggle steering left and right about an inch or more with no action at tires?
if this is happening, maybe your car has a rubber coupling located were steering shaft meets the rack..a steering guibo..i had this problem on a bmw and it drove me nuts until i figured the problem cost me about $60 on my bimmer and took me about 1 hour to change it myself.

Does a 170 have a steering shock? I am drawing a blank. I guess I haven't had one up on the lift in awhile. I think they do.
