should I buy a e 420?

After driving my friend e420 for a week, I come to conclusion of what a great car it is. I have started looking for a silver 1997-99 420 and would like to know what I should look out for? any help would be appreciated. I am looking for a silver low mileage car with about 60,000 on it. I still can't believe that it has taken me this long to appreciate benz's but never had an opportunity to drive anything but a 230 before and the occasional 450sl for a joy ride. jay in ft. myers

go to the w210 forum and do a search, you'll find lots of info. I have a 97 E420 with 111K miles on it and it drives and looks like new. great performance and decent mileage, great car for long distance trips with the comfort, room and performance and still nice around town. Not a toyota for reliability, but it is a car we like to drive and find excuses to take a trip in. If you are into DIY maintenance it actually is reasonable to maintain. Lots of maint. stuff cost me less than our Honda did. I'd buy another in a heartbeat (unlike the honda, good ridence). Personally I like the 210 styling better than the 211 and latest E class.

Only 97 was an E420, 98 and after was E430, entirely different engine, which itself is a subject worthy of further research.

Again another E420 owner, I've had mine about 6 years and have done about 80,000 miles in it (it now has 146xxx miles).

Black on Black and fully optioned. I've kept up with everything that needed doing and changed the timing chain at 110k miles. It drives great. Only issue seems to be that I have to replace the right tail light every couple of years because the brake circuit fails. But they are cheap.

Now looking to replace it because I fancy a 560SEC.

With best regards
