I have a 1988 260E with 290,000 miles. Replaced nearly everything under the hood; most recent being a fuel distributor, fuel pump relay; other relays and calibrated the air flow meter. After car has been operating for a half hour, then stopped at a light, the idle will raise 100 RPM, then drop 200 RPM, recover, and go thru the same cycle until I accelerate from the intersection.
Also, engine requires lots of revs to re-start after being hot.
