2.8L 4-Cyl. Turbo Diesel Engine (CRD) Jeep Liberty

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty with the 2.8L 4-cylinder turbo charged diesel engine (CRD). Did Mercedes Benz or any othe manufacturers use this engine in any other vehicles? I'm looking to do the timing belt job and I'm looking for parts suppliers. The availabilty of parts through Chrysler is pretty shakey at the moment. Any help would be grately appreciated!! Thanks!! This engine was made by VM of Italy and never used by Mercedes.

To my knowledge last MB 4-cylinder diesel was imported to US about 50 years ago.

Obviously it came from somewhere - wasn't developed exclusively for a Jeep Liberty. Might be some clues here - http://dat.de/leitfaden/LeitfadenCO2.pdf

Make that the '84-'85 240D. That's only 25!

Thanks for the info.

Was it used by any other manufacturers other than Jeep?

I'm looking for a good source for timing belt and waterpump parts.
