Just want an opinion:
I have a Certified Pre Owned 2006 E350. I bought the car 9/13/08 and it had 39900 miles. So I bring it to Mercedes to find that there are 7 things that they recommend be done at this time. One of them being transmission service for $425 which they recommend at 3 yr or 39,000 miles. I told them I didn't understand why the service is due especially since I do not have the car a year yet. I didn't have anything done and they kept saying "time sensitive. But when they gave me the estimate it said 3yr/39k. Over the weekend I stewed about it because to me something just didn't seem right. Then it hit me. First you must understand that I do not drive the miles that an average driver does. In 11 months I have put on less then 3000 miles since I got it. So the more I thought about it the more mad I became. Since the service is time or mileage sensitive it took this long for this service message to show up. However, if I was an average driver I would have gotten this message within three months of owning the car. I spoke to my dealership and they have agreed to do the trans service for nothing but there is another $1325 which they recommend. I think that most of this service should have been done prior to me owning the car e.g. Brake fluid $199.99 2yr/20k.
Just wondering what other people think about this
