1994 e320 Wagon - help please
About a month ago I purchased a 1994 e320 wagon with 66k miles on it. I thought I was getting an amazing deal but it's been nothing but a huge headache. When I did the pre-purchase inspection they notified me of a leaking head gasket and quoted me $1500 to repair it. I went ahead and got the car and knocked $1500 off the purchase price to cover that repair. I should've done more research because of course when they went to fix it they had to replace the wiring harness for $1300. So, I was only able to do that instead of the fixing the head gasket which is still leaking. And then the water pump went bad, so I got that fixed and spent another $650.
Now, as of yesterday, the center vents for the air conditioning are not working. (A little research and I come up with possible bad vacuum or disconnected hose?) And the oil pressure gauge is fluctuating like crazy - between about 1.5 and 3 - at 3 when I accelerate, 1.5 at idle. More research finds either bad pressure sensor, supposedly an easy fix, or other people saying that is totally normal.
At this point, I don't know how many more problems I can deal with in this car. Is it a lemon?? Is this normal? I've put $2,000 in the month that I've owned it. So my question is twofold. First, is a bad vacuum an expensive fix, getting into the dashboard does not sound easy or cheap. And secondly, should I cut my losses and get rid of this car? Either sell it at a huge loss or fix everything and try to sell it for more than I paid, which seems unlikely? (I paid $4500 for it)
I appreciate any opinion, experience and feedback anyone can give me. I will fully admit I know absolutely nothing about cars so I'm at the mechanics' mercy.
