Any way to get a non-listed part?

My SLK230 has lost a screw-on post from its roof support bracket. It probably fell into the car, and I may be able to find it after removing enough interior panels. I'd rather just buy one, but my dealer says that the only thing it sells is the right side roof support assembly. For $1100.

Is there any centralized official MB parts source that might be able to sell me this part? It's shown in the 4th image in this post.

Failing that, a wrecking yard might sell me the part from an otherwise damaged roof. I'd appreciate leads on that too.

It looks welded on.

Potomac German Auto is the most frequently-sited good source for Mercedes used parts.

If I know the used parts business like I think I know it, and if the whole assembly they have is undamaged, a used parts place will only sell you the whole assembly but at maybe 1/2 price --- so still $500.

Nevertheless first I'd suggest you verify what dealer has told you by subscribing for free to EPC and looking in group 79 at the parts breakdowns there.

There are several small bits that MB will only sell as a complete assembly costing multiple times the part, so best of luck, but a recycler yard may turn out to be your best bet.
