Question service c on 2008 c-350

my wife has 2008 C-350. She seldoms drives the car. Purchased 2007 one year later service c light came on . The car had 1911 miles. Dealer said warrantry required oil change plus filter at cost of $253. Car now has 4200 miles and it is one year later. Does the oil need changing yearly or 13,000 miles to keep warrantry up to date.

They'll go by the book, Service B in 2 years or so many miles, oil, filter, brake fluid, etc, etc, etc. Check the Owner's Manual.

Cars need to be maintained regardless of mileage. Time will also ruin fluids, filters, belts and hoses. Keep up with everything just as if you were driving it everyday. However, there is no requirement that you service it at the dealer. If the dealer told you that it must be serviced there to maintain warranty coverage, they are in violation of the law. Save some money and find a good indy shop to maintain the car. The oil/filter should be changed yearly regardless of use. Other fluids/filteres can go longer, but not forever.
