Looking at MB CLK 350
Like others in this thread, I am looking at my first Mercedes (albeit used). I'd very much like to get a CLK 350. Most likely a 2007 or 2008. It seems there are a lot of lease returns which has driven the price down a little, and there are cars in price in the $27K to $34K range for 15-25K miles.
I'm a bit nervous about the maintenance costs of a Mercedes-Benz. I've read negative feedback from Consumer Reports (which I likely think is more biased and inaccurate than would be perceived at first blush) that shines the quality of the electrical of the Benz in a poor light. I've seen quite a few Car Faxes that look like repairs are often done with Cam Sensors.
My first blush of the NAVI system was very negative. The process of entering the numbers, seemed ... extremely difficult, and the User Interface (a joystick) was so bad in my humble opinion, it was near worthless. Surely the salesguy didn't understand the system, so I am going back today to check it out again. He assured me the "older" electronics have been updated and are "competitive" with newer Luxury Japanese Cars.
II've owned a couple Toyotas, that have been extremely reliable. My 4Runner has made it to 140K+ without any problems (just changed the timing belt on the 4Runner). I'm not looking forward to a car that is going to cost me $800 a year to maintain while a young car.
Am I being too cautious?
Anything I should particularly be looking for in a Car Fax or reasons why to chose an '07 over and '06, or an '08 or an '07.
