After purchasing a C last December, I was excited about the forthcoming E. Perhaps the hoopla, perhaps the time lapsed, perhaps I changed. Now I hear that MB is cutting corners in materials, is posting a lot of red ink, top management puts show after show of less competence, and xpowersellers seems right to say that the boyz in Bama may have some doing in it
. Where do I find the failure? The first forecast I made it when Smith brought Wagoner from Europe, to succeed him. The European Corporate focus clashes with the American way of doing business that, unless they are very smart and allow North American Operations to run different from the European way, they are royally screwed. In counterpoint, Europe cannot be run on a North American focus. The real ideal mix is an Italian salad, where oil and vinegar emulsify into each other and create a perfect harmony.
So MB took the super-bleeding from Chrysler, and Chrysler in turn was reduced from bricks to smithereens and is trying to make brick again dreaming of a building some day. Meanwhile, MB is trying to maintain the board of directors and bonuses alive cutting corners and going without a set course to salvation. My advise: Upper Management, change advise, pick up the books, be creative, bring in smart people (it will be safer to your jobs than dumb, they only can take your jobs if you let them, will dimwits can only get you dismissed). And, please, down with the Peter Principle.
Coming back into reality: Go buy the MB you like, either with a CPO warranty or brand new, and let the fun begin. Only get everything in writing.
