Question New owner 2005 SL 65 AMG - couple questions

Thanks for any information on the following couple questions:

If the car sits for a few weeks does the car automatically lower? or is this an issue with the system?

Anyone found an inflatable spare from Mercedes that works on this car, would like to keep in the trunk on longer trips?

Thanks again......

I suggest you go to the R230 forum and ask those questions there. You might try the AMG forum as well. In those fora you'll find people who own cars like yours, and they are more likely to know the answer than folks in the General Questions forum.

Hi,
Yes, your car will looses its air in the suspension after about 14 days of parking. It's normal on a car which uses air suspension system

That car is not air suspension, it has ABC. The suspension is hydraulic. How low does it get and how long does it sit? Mercedes says it is ok to drop some when sitting for a extended. As far as a spare, a space saver from a SL500 works, but I am not sure if it would clear the brakes on a SL65. That is a good question.

A bit off topic but the ABC suspension isn't simply hydraulic, the struts contain traditional steel springs too, unlike Airmatic. But the steel springs are compressed with hydraulics according to instantaneous needs. If the full hydraulic pressure would leak out while the car is parked, it would not sit completely down like Airmatic suspension would do, the steel springs would lift the car to some extent.

Why would you let that beast sit for a few weeks??
