Timing chain

Hey , I'm Morris and am new to this site. I see that there are many knowledgeable people on this site so I wish to pose this question( though I fear I know what the answer will be)

I presently drive a 1989 420 SEL and yesterday my dear wife went to start the car and "THWACK", upon opening the hood I believe the timing chain has snapped. The housing of said chain is broken and I can look right in like an autopsy.
The car has 316000 kms or 190000 miles on it. I'd say it is in fair to good shape with little rust but brakes need to be done.
What does anyone think, shoulD I put her down , or what

Thanking You in Advance, Morris!
