Hello! I'm a retired Pharmacist and used to do all my own servicing, engine change, gearbox change etc etc etc, but over the years (I'm now 75) have fallen into the "cars are now so sophisticated it's not worth opening the bonnet (hood) now" but with increasing prices and static pensions I've decided to do just a little bit again. In the last 20 years or so I've had 4 Porsches and 3 Mercedes. I now have a Merc C180 2004. At the last service I was told that the parking brake needed adjustment at extra cost. I objected to this not being part of the normal service so decided to do it myself with help from this forum. It probably took me as long to do as it used to take me to change an engine, and I'm not sure if this is because things are so much more complicated or because of my age! For instance, road wheels are a hell of a lot heavier than they used to be!
After retirement I concentrated on my late father's occupation, joinery, and have done a lot of cabinet making. A recent project has been hand carving a rocking horse for my grandchildren, and I am now well on the way to completeing a second one. I live in Dorset UK in Poole, a town on the south Coast of England.
