Hi everyone, I am interested in purchasing a 1997 S320. Theres only one catch. The car was involved in a minor accident of some sort.
I am buying this car from a private party owner.
He has stated that the car:
1.was involved in an accident and was mended at a mercedes dealer.
2.has a clean title thus it was not totaled in the accident(otherwise it would have a salvage)
3.has done a "comprehensive evaluation" done by mercedes last year.
4.The accident information(what parts were changed, extent of damage) has been archived by Mercedes.
Is this guy telling the truth? Does Mercedes actually archive the accident repair records? How can i obtain any info on this report?
I really like the car but I am worried about the structural integrity after an accident. As of now, I do not know the severity of the accident or what kind of repairs needed to be done.
Is there anyway a mercedes dealer can access these files and tell me what was fixed?
I plan on taking the car for an inspection at a mercedes dealership. I know that for some makers(like BMW and audi) you can tell a service advisor the VIN and they can search the computer for all the maintainence and repair records.
Thanks for any info!
Also, if anyone has access to free carfax reports, could someone pm or post the report for WDBGA33G4VA346493.
