A/C compressor doesn't kick in

I have a 1995 SL600 that recently went thru a major illness. The ASR light went on and it took 3 months for it to be up running again. My regular mechanic couldn't find the problem and I took it to the dealer. Lots of money (20k or so) later it is running fine but the a/c which was working fine before. One of the fixes was a new wiring harness plus both throttle bodies etc. The dealer said I needed a new push button assembly and quoted his usual ridiculous price. I took it back to my regular mechanic and got a rebuilt unit from GermanStar. Didn't work. I'm convinced it is a bad connection when they replaced the wiring harness. Anyone have any ideas?

I would take it back to your dealer. $20k and no air is no deal.

+1 for the dealer. They should have a 12 month warranty on parts and labor. But don't mention taking it to your Indy because then they might try and blame him.

$20K You can pick up a SL600 in good working order for less that that now a days.
One thing to check : if the charge level (pressure) is too low, the A/C clutch will not engage (so that it wouldn't burn out the compressor).

LOl, your call but the place that did the service should be held responsible.

Point out the expense you have already put out. this should be no charge..
