New MB owner

Just bought my first MB. A 1999 E300TD with 90,000 miles on it. Its black with a tan interior. I'm still getting use to driving something bigger than the go cart Civic that I owned. 5 minutes and less than 3 miles from the dealer, I hit a pot hole (crater) and bent a rim and knocked the front end out of alignment. That problem fixed and moving on....I still don't know what all the switches do. For instance, whats the difference between the W/S switch located next to the gear shift handle and the ASR switch (I think that the one)? The W/S switch is for winter and summer driving and the ASR is also for better traction. When do you use one vs the other?

Welcome aboard
The ASR is traction control, leave it on unless your racing
In my signature there's a link where you can download a owners manual.

After reading the manual, the 'W' starts you off in second gear, and the 'ASR' will brake the spinning wheel. I guess I got that right, and I'll see how it works the next time it snows which isn't that much around here.
