Couple of basic questions

(1) I got the RF Signal bulb warning last night so sure enough my turn signal in the front wasnt working. SO....I went out to get in the car and go get a replacement bulb to change myself...when I unlocked the doors I noticed that the signal blinked....So when I got in the car and started it up...no error message....this morning it is out again....could this be a loose connection in the headlamp assembly where the bulb is located? or something else...it clearly is NOT really burned out....what should I do...get a new one anyway and change it...take it out and then put it back in...or is this something anyone has seen before..and typical MB

(2) I have only had my car for a week. At the dealer I got it from (used low miles) they had apparently just had the oil changed because there was a sticker on the window saying next oil change due in 5000 miles. I am curious as to ..did they put synthetic oil in it? or standard oil...I asked the guy there and he said he diddnt know...(yes I will call again and ask) But what if they put standard oil in it instead of synthetic? is that bad and should I take it and have synthetic put in it? and can it harm the car? It appears that they did it themsleves...and did not take it to the MB dealer.

1) Yes it could be a loose or corroded connection or socket, I have heard of this happening.

2) Synthetic oil will not hurt your car but you can't wait as long before changing it. If yours is designed for synthetic, which I'm pretty sure it is, I would feel more comfortable with synthetic. Check your owner's manual to verify, or ask on the W203 forum here.

If "they" is a Mercedes dealer, they will have filled with oil meeting MB spec 229.5--which your car REQUIRES and which by definition is synthetic. It is the 21st century, after all.

If another "dealer," who knows? You'll have to ask them. In any event, car must have correct oil.

Just ignore every other number and description except MB229.5. When all is said and done, you'll find your choice is pretty much Mobil 1 European Formula 0W-40. You'll not find anything better.

Keny is of course correct when all is said and done. What I meant, and should have said, is that your car is not ruined now if there is regular oil in it. If they can't tell you for sure, have it changed to synthetic as soon as possible.
