new member- 86 560sl second timer
Hi folks ! I just signed up for the forums and will soon be an owner of my second 560sl ( first was sold some years back ).
My new SL will be the same year ( 86 ) , same color ( red ), and same interior ( palomino ) as my first, so I guess I'm kinda partial to this combination.
I'm looking forward to being an active member of the forums. I'm not too technically inclined , but I learn fast and have time on my hands, being newly retired.
One question I would toss out for feedback from SL experts is what you would recommend to check out initially when I receive the car. I bought the car long distance, and it has exceptionally low mileage ( 22000 miles ). It appears to be in almost pristine shape, with just about everthing being original, except the tires being replaced a couple of years back. My first thought is to bring it to my Mercedes mechanic and have him check everything out, do an oil/filter change, and inspect the brakes. Previous owner indicated he gets some brake squeak, which might be that the original brake pads have hardened with age. Owner also indicated that O2 sensor light comes on intermittently, but they have never had it checked since the light doesn't stay on.
I'm open to any input more experienced owners may have.
