Where is the "oriface filter located?"

Just wanted to know if any of the knowledgeable people here have ever heard of an "oriface filter" on the A/C systems of Mercedes Benz cars. I have a 1983 300SD and have been told to look for this "oriface filter" so I can remove it, and replace it with a new one. I have no idea where to look, other than I have been told it should be on the high side of the refrigerant lines. Will really appreciate some replies from the knowledge of you other posters. Thanks, Gregory

I am not a mechanic..but I would guess it would be on the output side of the A/C compressor...the High Side of an auto air conditioner is typically located near the compressor but as I said "after" the compressor...the Low side of the A/C is where you add in Freon ..usually located underneath the widshield wipers....its very backwards...the High side you would Think would be where the low side is....ughhh..im gonng stop now its getting confusing isnt it...lol....seriously...the filter should be post compressor...and on the input to the evaporator...basically between the condensor and the evaporator...

Seeing that you live in New Jersey...I wouldnt worry to much about 90 degrees...I live in Houston Tx...LOL!!!

Just trace the AC lines...start at the compressor...and follow that lines to the evaporator (it looks like a small radiator) The Oriface tube is connected to the input of the evaporator so I would assume you should be able to find the filter somewhere around there...the tube looks like or resembles a water faucet and will have a copper wire coming out of it ....getting to it might be a challenge..

Thanks again...

Yes, I do live in New Jersey, thanks for not making any jokes, I wasn't born here. Unfortunately, anything over 75F gives me trouble, I have
mutiple sclerosis, and heat has now become my enemy, for the past three plus years. It's really sickening, I used to LOVE when it got hot and steamy, never gave me a problem. My having MS has changed that dramatically. Thanks for the advice on where to look, Gregory
