Post CLS 320 stolen - how easy is it to do?

Unfortunately, my CLS320 was stolen Saturday morning yet I still have all the keys! I just need to know how easy it is to steal these cars. I loved the car to drive, so feel pretty sick that it has been taken from my drive. I actually will be with Daimler next week, so will ask the question there.

Stealing an MB is easy, just drive a flatbed ahead of the car and load the car and drive away.

Starting the car would need replacing a lot of parts that aren't too easy to order as spare parts. Certain hacking is always possible if thieves gain access to the circuitry of DAS parts.

car was parked on driveway, so rules out flatbed approach

Sorry to hear about this Keith.

I'm lost here. DB, wouldn't the alarm have gone off once somebody disturbed it? I used to think the security systems on MBs was pretty darn good but this thread makes me re-think that.

Alarm never went off and car was driven off the drive! Police are baffled as they have not heard about this. A friend works for MB direct and he also says it baffles the service guys there.

Most likely "inside job" by somebody who could get duplicate key.
I heard about a guy in Canada who had his new MB taken from shopping mall parking lot. That was new then keyless go and papers with cellphone left on the parking indicated that the thief got inside and drove it off. The anti theft radio tracking was disabled within 1/2 hr as well.
There are geniuses everywhere.

Cool COVER YOUR VIN NUMBER...

and scratch off the number under the rear tag.
This was a scam in So Cal USA last year. They finally baited a car and found out they where high school kids. They got vin numbers then made keys just like MB.
Three strikes put them all away for a solid 25 years.
Hope you can find a new car you love just as much.

Do a search in go jack, it's a device that repo man use, you can pretty much jack all corners of the car and wheel it all the way to the street and from there loaded into a flatbed truck. Just think, how many MB get repo every year and that's the way they move the car around so it can towed easy.
