First, I would like to say "Hello" to everyone on this blog. As was stated previously, I am new to the Wonderful World of Mercedes-Benz. I have only had this car for about 5 months now, and am truely wanting it to run again. If that will ever happen.
I aquired this 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300SD via a house purchase in January of 2009, along with a 1986 Jaguar XJS V-12. Both of the cars received flood water damage, but not to the point of scraping either one of them. The 300SD sat in a garage that had a significant amount of water in it, covering the "Old Benz" up to about half-way to her side windows (and yes, even for the weight, they will still float in water). The Jaguar had some water in the floor, but not enough to "damage" it like the 300SD. The only problem is that even before the flood water, the Jaguar would not run, only because she had an engine fire on the left had side of her ever beautiful V-12 engine. Burning many wires and vecuum hoses in the process.
I have joined this blog in hopes that someone can help me figure out why the 300SD will not crank. I have tried many things from different sites and from one local Mercedes-Benz repair shop, Precision Service Company--Owner, Tom Tipsword. But I feel that I am using him to get free information from. I don't think that he minds, but I just don't really like doing it. You know, it is waht he does to make a living...
I have searched many places to find a Manual that is specific to the 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300SD, but have not been able to find one yet. I know that there is a lot of work that I am going to have to do to make this a really great car, and am looking to find the repair manual for this vehicle. Something that would go into detail about wiring. There are several things on the car that, probably didn't work before I got the car like, moonroof, power seats, radio; so on and so on...
If anyone out there has any information on this vehicle. Please let me know. Or even if you know of a site that might have a downloadable Repair Manual. Anything would be great at this point. I don't have a lot of money to spend on the car, but I know that it would make a great car to have in the future.
Hope someone can help and thanks for having me on here.
