Exclamation S Class W220 heater blower

I have a 2000 S Class S320 petrol. the heater blower has stopped working and I have been told its either the Motor or the Heater Resistor. Both parts can be bought separately. is there any way of testing the motor or resistor before I replace them to find out which is one is faulty ?

I had a 'so called' M B specialist look at it, but he never tested either of them, he just quoted a price of £800 to replace them..

Any help would be much appreciated.

The resistor is actually a regulator on cars as new as this one. If you are handy with a multimeter, you can measure the output of the regulator at the input to the actual motor.

How much has it been driven? The motor brushes would wear out but it takes quite a lot of miles, the regulator should be more likely.

You could also bypass the regulator but you would have to be careful, the current to the motor would be pretty high.

220's also have a problem of the drain for the intake airbox for the blower motor filling with water and ruining the blower motor. The drain is a rubber plug that clogs and traps water.
