Hello from Flagstaff, AZ My name is Kris, I need some help with my 1990 300E
Hello, I just traded my '95 Chevy S10 for a 1990 300e! I have missed the 190e I had in highschool since I totaled it.. Anyway, I love this 300e so much but she has some problems. The steering is REALLY loose, like a quarter turn of play to the left and right with the wheel in center. Makes it very difficult and dangerous to drive, but I just cant resist. She is so beautiful! Any ideas for what the problem might be? What should I check first? I dont have a Chiltons or Mercedes Bible yet, btw do you guys recommend one of those books over the other?
So, I took the car to Ken's Imports here in Flagstaff, they charged me $45 just to tell me they couldnt tighten the steering and that I needed a new "steering box".. Maybe if someone could send me a pic of the steering box I could try to tighten it myself? Is this even the problem? I will need a pic to know where/what to look for.. Thanks in advance!
I guess I might as well tell you about the other major problem while youre here.. The car has a hard time starting in the morning. I have to give her some gas to get it to turn over and run. When she first starts up the engine is shaking the whole hood, but eventually she settles down and runs fine, I just want to fix this before the day she wont start at all! What should I check out first? I have read about the OVP relay, but I dont know where or what that is.. My ABS light is on though, and engine coolant seems to go low fast, engine seems hot. Just let me know what you think! Thanks so much!
