My garage charged me $2,855 to "rebuild" my tranny, which did not engage in any gear! (hourly rate, not flat rate! Anyone ever heard of such a thing?) I am still arguing this bill!
After a year of bickering that after the rebuild and the shifts were VERY abrupt and HARSH, they looked into it and found shiny metal shavings in the transmission pan. SO..., they, "free of charge", rebuilt it again. When first driven cold, the tranny is relatively smooth, but after a mile or so, it's harsh and jerky again, especially when accellerating or de-accellerating slowly. It hits final drive @ 20 mph, and will not downshift below 45 mph...After repeated complaints, I have been stoically told," They ALL do that"! I find it very difficult to believe that a car costing approxiamately $32,000 in 1982 would shift like a 1980 Chevy Citation!! This is one of several questions that I will be throwing around regarding their 'other' work!
