BabySmart Child Safety Transponder
I currently own a Babysmart infant carseat for my 230 SLK which is used to turn off the passenger side air bag. This seat only goes up to 29 pounds which my toddler is quickly approaching. The infant seat was $500 and the next size, which only covers from 20-40 pounds, is another $600. I have read that it is possible to take the transponder out of the BabySmart seat we currently own and put it on a commercial car seat, which will serve the purpose of turning off the airbag, which is so critical to our child's safety. My question: Has anybody done this? Does anybody have any specific information or photos on how to remove the transponder in the correct manner and install it in a non-Mercedes seat? I thought I saw a step-by-step photo tutorial at some point on-line, but can't seem to find it now. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.
