Post Warranty question

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post in, so forgive me if I'm wrong and please direct to where to post, otherwise...

I just bought a Certified Pre-Owned '06 CLK 350 with 30,000 miles from a local MB dealer. It came with a "New Car Limited Warranty" from the factory that expires on 12/28/09. I purchased the Factory Extended Warranty that takes effect on 12/28/09, which apparently is a "Starmark Pre-Owned Limited Warranty".

My question is: Do I have to take my car to the dealer I purchased it from for servicing and maintenance?

From my research so far it seems that I can take it to any Mercedes-Benz mechanic until the New Car Limited factory warranty expires... but will I be able to continue to take it where I choose when the Starmark Pre-Owned Warranty kicks in 12/28/09?? Or will I ever have to take it back to the dealer where I bought it for servicing? (I ask because I love the sales department there, but HATE the service department - had a terrible experience with them the other day).

Thanks so much for your help!!

No. You can take it to any MBZ dealer in the nation.

Thank you for your response! Does it have to be a dealer though? Or would a Mercedes-Benz trained/certified mechanic (smaller shop) suffice?
Thanks!

Just about everything you can imagine is covered under a MB CPO warranty. Not normal wear and tear items of course, like wiper blades and brake pads. What you should have asked is if you should take it to a dealer for A, B, C, services. I would advise that you do so simply as a CYA tactic.

The only way a dealer can require you to maintain/service your vehicle strictly in by thier technicians; is if they offer the service for free!!! If they tell you that, get it in writing because they are violating federal law. Look up Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act and fax them Title 15 Chapter 50 Sub Section 2310.
