Bumpertobumper warranty, just what does it really cover?

I just purchased a 2007 Mercedes C230 with 9,000 miles from an independent dealer. When I inspected the interior, it seemed to be in excellent condition. Well, someone did some damn good detailing because after purchase and CLOSER inspection, it appeared to be kept in the sun. For a long time. The rear deck is completely faded to gray, the vinyl is faded in several areas as is the vinyl on the exterior of the car. The original color was black. Also, the turn signal lights on the mirrors were both cracked. I went to the Mercedes dealership and they replaced both lights and the cupholder, all for $100 bc they let one light and the cupholder be covered under warranty, even though the lights were damaged from contact. My husband swears that the interior can also be replaced for repaired for excessive fading for a car not even 3 yrs old yet. I'm thinking not but who knows? Whats everyone else's experience with MB replacing interior items? All I see is mainly car mechanical issues being covered. Thanks guys

Edited to add: the seats are faded in some areas and are MBTex. Its weird how I didn't even notice, maybe it was a combination of a ton of armorall on the interior and the excitement of buying my 1st Mercedes Benz!

You have a good chance of them helping you out. I had faded exterior parts and they said they weren't suppose to replace them under warranty, but then they did.

As I understand it, the MB new car warranty covers any defects in material and workmanship. But your situation seems to fall in between neglect and what they will cover. My suggestion is that you post this again in the W203 forum to see what the actual owners tell you. Others mat have had a similar experience with bad vinyl, or MB-Tex if you will. Also, if once you ask your dealer and they refuse to help you further, there is a MB regional rep who can intercede on your behalf.

How long after you purchased it did you discover this? Aside from the potential warranty issues you may have a claim for misrepresentation by the seller. A gently worded suggestion to that effect may cause them to support it as a warranty claim.

The cosmetic warranty, is not as far reaching as the mechanical warranty. I had bubbling paint on my "E" and they disallowed it,
