Sorry for not starting with the intro when I joined, but better late than not at all.
I've recently bought a (W124.130) 300D automatic from 1990 (licensed in Spain in 1992) and it need a lot of care as it's last owner obviously was not interested any more to keep it in shape.
I started with changing all filters, oil's, antifreeze and a set of rear tires.
It obviously appreciated the attention as it does run smoooooothly.
I've already repaired the electronic relay from the automatic antenna (Hirschmann)-faulty transistor- and the pump for the central locking.
I've removed a red LED that kept blinking as if it had a anti theft circuit, but it only kept consuming battery.
There's still a lot to be done on it but slowly it will get back into shape.
I hope to learn from you guys all about this surprising machine.
As there was no user manual any more, I like to ask something about the airco.
The 2 fans on front of the radiator's (one was burned and has been replaced already), are they only for the air conditioning or also to help to keep the temperature of the cooling down?
What controls them?
What is the function of the 3 push buttons between the dials for the heating/cooling system, as wel as other switches.
Is there somewhere a place to find a pdf of the user manual?
I have no problem with it being in German or any other European lingo.
Thanks and best regards,
