Questions about OTC Genisys Scan Tool
I have a 2003 C240 4-Matic (US). I also have an OTC Genisys scan tool, that I got on eBay, but I don't have the European software for more complete coverage of the Benz. Can anyone here answer a couple of questions.
1. I have not been able to find a 38-pin connector, I would think it should be on or near the ECU, which I think is right next to the engine compartment fuse/relay panel. Can anyone confirm/deny whether there is a diagnostic connector, other than the CAN/OBD-II port next to the hood release?
2. Has anyone used the OTC Genisys European software? The manufacturer says that it "works with" every computer in the car that I can imagine, but does that mean just reading out the codes, or can it invoke the special tests as well. I have noticed that, although you may not really need to do it, you are supposed to perform a reset if you change the crankshaft position sensor. Can the Genisys do this? What about any procedures if I ever have to bleed the ABS controller? Does the Genisys support that?
Any further information you can provide before I plunk down even more money on this tool would be greatly appreciated.
