Ordering parts from Germany

Hi, does anyone have any tips for ordering parts direct from Mercedes in Germany? I'd rather not go via a main dealer as this will delay the shipping. Is it possible for Johnny Public to order a part directly? The item is to be shipped to Ireland.

Secondly, does anyone have a cross-reference list that will confirm that part number 9024100902 is a transfer box to gearbox driveshaft for a 316CDI 4x4 Sprinter?

Thanks, Malcolm

You cannot order parts directly from MB, except MBGCT or similar. You can probably buy from a German dealer but it would not be any faster for you.

The part number looks right although I would not order a part without checking with the real VIN.

Firstly, there is not really such a thing as "main dealer". DB (like most manufacturers) has parts distribution facilities all over the globe and there are times when a part may arrive quicker from other than Germany. But in any case, how long is transit time from Germany to Ireland anyway? A few days at the most?

It's not just a case of who can get it to me quickest, as there are also variations in price to consider. My guess is that the part is dearest here in Ireland (like just about everything else!!). I need to have my van fixed before this coming weekend, hence the urgency.

I can't use the VIN number to check the part. I am putting a 5 cylinder 2.9 CDI engine in my 4x4 4 cylinder van and the additional length of the engine means that the first driveshaft is about 4 inches too long. My VIN would simply show the longer driveshaft and the engine donor van is 2WD.

Can anyone recommend a dealer in Germany that would ship overseas (and speaks English)?

Malcolm.
