Considering a new sl550

I currenty own a 2007 corvette convert, I am considering trading it or selling it for a new 09 sl550. Just curious if anyone on here has ever gone from a vette to an sl and what your thoughts are.

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL550 represents the first major overhaul of the fifth-generation (R230) SL roadster since the car's introduction in 2003. The optional new Direct-Steer System on this 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL550 Roadster, combined with the suspension's standard Active Body Control, makes the car particularly well suited for, well, anything. At the moment, the SL550 accounts for 86 percent of sales, and Mercedes expects this to continue.

Whgat did you decide to do about the SL? I previously owned a 04 Cadillac XLR w/22k and traded it for a 06 SL500 w/8k. I will say that the XLR had more torque and was quicker to 60mph than the SL, however, the SL was put together better, less rattles, and felt alot tighter with the hard top.

I installed a spint booster and noticed an immediate difference in the throttle response. It was almost as good as the XLR. Another thing that was better in the SL is the turning radius. Also you have more trunk space with the top down on the SL.

Overall, you should be happy with the SL550 because that has 382hp more torque than the SL500 and better resale value than the Corvette. The vettes are great but the SL is in a different class.

It may not be important to you but take note that the current SL design is an "interim" style, by that I mean many consider it slightly mismatched because MB kept the rear almost untouched but updated the front from those amoebic quad lamps to the more angular flat ones. In short order the entire car will have a redo to come in line more aesthetically.
