Best "older" Mercedes for me

I am maybe looking for getting myself into a Benz. I work for a Big 4 accounting firm and it's now time to step up into something a little more comfortable, but nothing that will break the bank.

Estimated budget is going to be $20-22k

What I want:

Power: I own a 2005 GTO right now with headers and cam and I do not want to miss the fun I have when downshift and I slam my right foot down

Comfort: It's going to be a daily driver so I want it to have all the bells a whistles as well as comfort. I have never owned a "luxury car" before so most likely everything that comes on a Benz will be a "bell and whistle" to me.

What year/series Mercedes should I look into? I don't know if I will mod the engine or keep it stock but I definitely want the car to look nice. Will likely get it in black, add black wheels with polished lips and lower the car to eliminate wheel gap.

02 E55 AMG or 06 C55 AMG,both of which will park the goat and leave it wondering where you left it.
Be prepared to learn DIY or have deep pockets.Dealers are not faint of heart in charging pretty much whatever they feel. And you will not like what they like to feel
The 06 C55 is the first of the apology models. Stay away from anything that begins with W211

2002 SL500 Silver Arrow (special edition roadster). If you opt for a Panorama hardtop roof you can't go wrong. On these SL's there is a soft top and a separate removable hardtop that was an option. The Silver Arrow has really wonderful engine turned details and other unique items like a designo style interior, etc.

Get a real nice 01-02 E55 AMG. You will love it and it will actually be reliable and well built. An 02 SL500 is also a good pick, but its only a tight 2 seater and not quick as fast as and E55. I steer clear of the CLK and a lot of the newer regular Mercedes models, if you are looking for something that you can actually drive and not have to bring it in to get repaired every week.
