BRAKE ASSIST Trouble Message.
I'm getting a BRAKE ASSIST - VISIT WORKSHOP message. Here are the details.
Car is a 2002 C230K, driven about 70K miles. Had front brake, discs and pads, replaced a few weeks ago and everything was fine for a couxple of weeks. Then one evening I drive over a very bumpy road being resurfaced and a few hours later the BRAKE ASSIST trouble message started to appear intermittently. About 3 days later it came on permanently and has stayed on.
The brakes seem fine, and I understand what the brake boost assist does. But how can I tell if it is working properly? The mechanic who did the brake work can find nothing wrong, but doesn't have the equipment to read the error codes. Are there any tests I can do myself or do I have to bring it to the local Mercedes dealer? How should I proceed??
