First time listener, long time caller....
I have a "new" to me, 1987 300D Turbo. It's the second car I've ever owned, the first was an '87 420 SEL that was gorgeous but expensive to maintain.
There are a couple of seemingly small issues with the 300D Turbo that need to be corrected to make the Benz reliable. First, it failed inspection in Massachusetts because the SRS light doesn't go out, nor does the windshield wiper light. Is there a way to get the SRS light off without a mechanic replacing the airbag system? The other issue I'm having is with the car's key. Sometimes I can't get it out of the ignition after turning the engine off. The key won't roll all the way left. One day it took 45 minutes to get it to roll left and then come out. Just last night was a new problem. The key wouldn't roll right to begin the starting process. It took more than an hour of trying. In both cases I got blisters on my fingers! Is it a key problem or an ignition problem? The key works fine in the door and trunk locks. Any insights into these issues are greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
