Exclamation Folding mirrors problem

Hi,

I have a SL500 05/2003 model. I had the instrument cluster replaced the day I bought it (so I 'm not sure if the following is a problem or not). The cluster menus have the option to fold mirrors when locking the car, but even if I set it on, I can only fold them using the manual button. Is this normal? Any help will be appreciated...

Thanks

It is not normal, but to rectify this you will need to have a diagnostics test done. There may be fault codes stored on the signal aquasition module.

Thanks for the reply. I ll see if I can find another garage to do this for me, because I think that my current Mercedes one has ordered an incorrect cluster and they are now saying that this is normal and that my car never had auto-folding mirrors. (So they say that there is nothing wrong)

Same thing with my s500. I tried disconnecting the battery and My Cd player started to work again but the auto fold in mirror are still not working.

I tried my in car phone after I got it back from mercedes garage and my TEL menu from the instrument cluster is not there anymore. The answer/endcall buttons from the wheel say function unavailable. The phone does work though, but only with the COMMAND buttons. Could this be due to the new cluster or is it a setting? (eric242340 I ll send you the VIN later today)

Thanks for the VIN and the following is a list of your car when it was built and it clearly states folding mirrors, so they should work from the settings on the instrument cluster, as to the phone, they seem to have made yet another boo boo.

I have just read the list again and noticed that your car was not built with a telephone fitted. Either it was retrofitted or is an aftermarket phone and thus it will not show on the instrument cluster. Did it show on the old cluster? And did they fix the folding mirror problem?

Many thanks for the reply.

The phone did work with the old cluster. Does the folding mirror refer to auto-fold or folding by the manual button next to the gear shift?
