Cool Replacing Existing Rotors & Brakes

Two years ago I bought an '02 CLK 320 and my dealership informed me I need new brakes & rotors on the front. The indicator light is on and since I live in The Bay Area, I have been quoted a fee of $700.00. In this economy I am hoping to save some bucks by purchasing the parts myself (on line):

Brembo (W0133) Sport Drilled $215.95
EBC (Redstuff Ceramic 3000) $84.30

Labor for 2 hrs $240.00

There will be minor additional impact fees for sensor and anti-squeak paste. My driving is pretty much limited to city (lot of stop & go). The existing rotors and pads have generated a lot of dust but no noise, so I do not want to replace with what I presently have.

Any thoughts, recommendations, or suggestions on my plan?

Unless you just want the looks you don't need the drilled rotors, they won't add any benefit...and the car will look funny with drilled up front and smooth in the rear. You can get the Z-coated Zims for about $130 including shipping from

If you want ceramic most folks seem to fall over for akebonos, google and you can find them for the $50 range and they come with new sensors. I've not heard much about the EBCs, but most have not reported a noise issue with the akebonos.

You can do this job yourself easily enough, same setup as the 210 and you can use the DIY I posted in the 210 forum, it's in the help/diy stickies. As luck would have it I'm changing my fronts in a few weeks, I'm also in the bay area.

Welcome aboard, please click the user cp link and complete your BW profile for vehicle and location as that is often useful information.
