To answer your question directly, probably for your year and model you should go directly to the W202 subforum:

W202 C-Class - Benzworld.org - Mercedes Benz Discussion Forum

That said, the C180 wasn't, to my knowledge offered new for sale in the States, and I am guessing that perhaps you are from the UK?

Over there the C180 has been very well respected as a Junior rep mobile and company car and to this day cut a very handsome presence on the road.

That was the petrol powered entry level one, and of course if it was me and the engine failed epically, I would see if there was a way I could source a C36 or C43 from a UK breaker's yard that ran good, and see if I could shoehorn it in there....

Please fill out your CP profile, put up an avatar and in your profile mention where you are from including the city, and the car(s) that you own.

yes mate i am from yorkshire in england, my 97 c180 is the entry level but it is the sport model lol and i like it but just the performance i dont like lol, there really isnt that many people in the uk that know what engines could fit in this model, i have done engine conversions on vauxhalls which i have owned quite a few of but i wanted to move on to something different so i have got the benz i was thinking of a v8 engine but wouldnt know where to start lol, my plans are to slam the car on some wire wheels and find a suitable engine to transplant, thanks for the advice mate, chris

Hi and welcome.

A V8 should fit. Try here to see if they have any engines and Nick may point you in the right direction of what might fit.

Good luck.

    Say you have a 2.3 engine or a 3.2 engine. Is that called engine size ? engine capacity ? Vince R170 SLK-Class 4 11-01-2001 09:14 PM
