Unhappy V220 Air Suspension Problem

Hi all,
I am very new to this but have read many threads and found them to be very useful so as I have a problem,I thought I would ask those more experianced than myself for any advice.
I have a 2002 V class 220 cdi and have a suspension problem. My compressor stopped working so I have just bought a used but quite new repalcement.I removed the old one and made notes on what goes where including the wireing. When I compared the new one with the old,I found that the splash guard was slighly different and the solenoids were in a different place.I changed the new compressor workings into my mounting with no problems, all holes located just fine.Having now fitted the new compressor to my car,I find it does not work at all (worked well on a bench test),I did notice that my wireing was a different colour than the new one but connected the compressor up as the cable blocks can only go one way. What is happening now is that the warning light comes on and stays on and when I press the override button on the dash,it just flashes at an alarming speed. What have I done wrong? There appears to be no power to the compressor.Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have now fixed the compressor problem,it now kicks in when the dash button is pressed for 2 seconds .The rear is still on it's stops and despite the compressor working well, the rear will not rise at all.The compressor goes for about 2-3 mins. but does not inflate the suspension, any ideas.
