06 clk 350 coupe hid headlamp problem

Hey guys im a newbie to this website so bare with me.
I own a 2006 CLK 350 hard top coupe and
I just installed some aftermarket hid headlamps on my car. They are plug and play no relays or wires to deal with.Just plug in the ballast to the headlamp bulb connector and your good to go. they work great but from time to time i get a message in display screen that states that i have a head lamp bulb problem.sometimes its states the left and sometimes the right. I installed the inline resistors that plug in between the ballast and the factory car harness and the lights work fine. is there a remedy for this warning message?

Welcome the the forum CLK. Since a lot of people upgrade their stock headlamps your thread fits fine in this forum and I doubt this problem is specific to the newer CLKs. For future reference, you have a W209 and there is also a forum devoted to your series of MB. Just scroll down to the Coupe/Convertible section and you will see it.

For OEM xenons you have to code "Xenons present" to make the fault message disappear. Usually xenons start to flicker too if the correct coding is present, I don't know why that would not happen to you. The start-up current is anyway different on Xenons from the on-state.

Perhaps you should have considered OEM xenons, the cost is higher but you could avoid these issues.
