Smile Greetings From South Africa

Hi everyone
Yes... it typical, only joins the Benzworld if you own a MB or you got a question relating to a part that’s used elsewhere.
Today the new President get sworn in, yes Jacob Zuma, don’t now how people across the world follows the political "Drama" in south Africa, sometimes I feel we are on a far away island.
Something about me, Male, 45, Married, two children, Grandpa, easygoing and like to fiddle myself.
My new Vehicle is a 1976 280 W114-060 with a M110 engine, with a Solex 4A1 carburettor fitted. Automatic with power steering and air con.
This MB belonged to my work college’s mother, used it to do shopping, and going to church. She passed away recently and my friend sold me the MB (he doesn’t see himself as a mechanic) and the MB was standing in a garage full with he needs himself.
Body and interior 100% original, electrical 100% original and 100% working, no smokers ever in the MB (ashtrays new, and cigarette lighter new being used or heated up).
The engine of course all vacuum pipes needed replacement (done), rubber hoses in the cooling system some OK some needs replacing. All fuel rubber hose replaced. By the way the car was parked within a motor house from 1994 (my work college’s mother had a accidents on the tiles in-house and broke her hip, the hip healed but she never got in the car again) with a bare 48000 Km on the meter.
I got it running (runs smooth) after oil, plugs, points, filters change, but the idling is quit “High” , I managed to reduce it at the end by turning the two Mixer screws inward to lower the revs (this MB not fitted with a rev counter, I need to buy a tacho meter or something to spell out the revs). I adjusted the vacuum idling at the side of the 4a1 but every adjuster is free with play but the revs sounds to high, hence me adjusting the two mix screws to lower the revs of the MB. Maybe somebody can give me a few tips in sequence to “fine tune” this Solex?

Anyway it rains outside and it’s no ideal condition to fiddle on the engine.

Would appreciate any help.

Regard
