03 c230 power lock issue

When I attempt to lock or unlock my doors the drivers side lock will go up and down about 4 -5 times in an attempt to lock. This happens every time the door locks or unlocks and only occurs on the driver side door.

Sometimes the door will lock/unlock on the first try, sometimes it will partially lock/unlock and other times it will take 4 or 5 attempts to get it to lock/unlock.

Even when I use the key manually it still does not work. The lock will not engage fully if I use the key. If I unlock with the key manually, then open the door, the alarm goes off.

Is the power lock going bad? I noticed a small crack in the plastic sheeth on the latch (the latch on the body of the car, not the door) could that be it?

This happens on some w211 cars too. I've understood that the only real fix is to replace the door lock, you might try lubricating the parts. I don't think the crack causes it, never know though. You should find more info from the C-class forum.

I'm sure you can if you can get the door apart and expose the locking mechanism. Better ask some dealer what the proper lubricant should be.
