Thanks from a new member...
Well, I'm impressed. This is my first car forum and you folks have already helped me a great deal. I have a '99 C280 and I was having trouble with the key fob battery. I couldn't figure out how to open the battery compartment in the fob until I logged on here and immediately found the solution. Thanks again.
I have always been a ford man, presently a cherry 98 F-150 (117K miles), until I bought my Benz from E-bay about 5 years ago. I drove her back from Houston to Portland, Ore and averaged nearly 35 MPG on the inline 6 at 75-80MPH sustained. I found the gas mileage to be amazing as well as the power and the steady handling in this Benz. Ease of access for most owner repairs is well engineered and I'm constantly finding new things to impress me.
My brother has always been a big fan of MB with SL's, 190's, E-Classes and now a CLK ragtop. I always thought it was talk and just so much window dressed pretention to own a Benz but now I'm a convert. I test drove the Jag's and the BMW but sure prefer the handling I have in my C class over the comparables. I'm still getting 32-34 MPG with 137K and given the economy see no reason to trade my little C class.
Thanks again for the help with the tricks to the batteries in the key fob.
