Hi there everyone,
I decided to join in order to access the knowledgebase of all who have gone before me and to share my story and results.
I currently have a Chevy Suburban, a BMW (E23) 735i and a 1971 280sl.
The 280 has been in storage for about 22-23 years after having 73000 miles put on it and my friend and I are working on getting it back on the road.
This week we got it settled properly into it's garage and up on stands. Wheels are off, hood is off for access, some of the fluids have been replaced. Looks like the oil and trans fluid were both changed right as the car went into storage, there was no sludge in the oil and it just looked old, rather than used.
The only real issue we came across so far was that the battery should have been removed and it did some minor damage to the area by the positive terminal, including burning through what looks like a vacuum line.
Anyway, enough of that. The car has been in my friends family since new and we decided it is high time to fix it up, but ironically even between the two of us we cant even afford a new battery for it! I don't think it's going to get sold when back on the road either, my friend may be in a position to use the kind of money that the car will be worth, but I don't think either of us could part with such a beautiful machine!
That's my story,
