2004 320 E Wagon 88,000 bought it!

I bought a 2004 320 E from carmax for 16,5 with 88,000 miles on it.
I took it to a local forein car specialist who gave it a thuro check and said it was a very clean car that would only need the autotrans service in 10-20k, the rear breaks in 10-15k and everything looked good with his inspection.
The car rides great but i'm wondering what the maintanance is on these cars at 85k, 90k, 95, 100.
Its a 6 cyl.
I own a 1989 190 E that i love to drive even more than the 320 because its small and easy to get around but i bought the 320 for longer trips.
I have a few days to take it back to carmax should i decide its not right. This is not a habit but i want to get some advise first.

I have another friend with a 1998 320 E wagon with 147k he's selling for 6,000, is that a better deal or model? I know it all depends on condition but, i also know some of the older models are nice too.
my 190 e is a fun car to drive..

thanks in advance,
mike

The price for the 2004 is a bit high but I think that's still a better one to have than a 1998 with almost 150,000 miles. If I were you, I'd change the transmission fluid right away. How does he know that you don't need to for another 10-20,000?

BTW, this forum is called "General Mercedes Benz" and you have a W211. That's a better forum upon which to ask your model-specific questions.

Congratulations and Good luck!

Hi Mike:

I might sound like the last of the big spenders, but since you bought it from a dealer, I'd change all the fluids and filters plus any suspect part I'd find, like hoses and belts, plus wheels (with tire inflation to your liking), axles. and alignment. This way you start your own slate, as it if were a new car (which for you it is). Then I'd sleep OK and enjoy the car.

Cheers, and congratulations. JV
