Replacing a S430 Windshield

I need to replace the windshield on my 2000 S430. I am working with a very competent shop who has researched the options. Net net, costs are $350 for a windshield without rain sensor and over $1000 by way of them buying a windshield from the dealer and installing it. So, in discussions with the wife (who drives the car 90% of the time) she feels she doesn't need the sensing capability as it doesn't work as well as described.

I have read the posts explaining how it all works, which is good data, and need to know if there are any gotchas I need to be aware of by installing a $350 replacement windshield without the sensing option?

Thanks in advance.
