Again I am amazed at MB ignoring such valuable "opiniologists" who boast of leaving MB engineers in the shade. Or is it perhaps that the Owner's Manual is too complex to read or understand?
I don't care what these individuals believe, what I worry is about them seeding bad info on newcomers, or any other members for that matter.
The gas needs for w204 engines is unleaded premium gasoline complying with European Standard EN228 (Octane number 95 ROZ / 85 MOZ).
The Manual goes further to spell out "The use of another fuel can affect in a negative manner engine power or can disable the engine."... "Temporarily, and only if the recommended fuel is not available, 91 ROZ / 82.5 MOZ regular unleaded gasoline can be used. This use can result in a loss of power and an increase in gas used by the vehicle. Avoid driving at full throttle."

I'll be waiting for the next merry-go-round, JV

I have driven over 600,000 miles in 4 Mercedes 2 E's and 2 ML's and never put premium fuel in them. They all did great. Just purchased a 07 ML350 with 25,000 miles and guess what in went the regular fuel.
I do get premium for my 60 190SL, 70 280SE Cabrolet and 67 Vette. I can tell the difference in them when I run regular.
My dealer said try it if car runs well keep getting the regular. He said the premium just made the mileage slightly improve for government ratings.
